॥ Chapter 11, Shloka 38 ॥

त्वमादिदेव: पुरुष: पुराणस्त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम् |
वेत्तासि वेद्यं च परं च धाम त्वया ततं विश्वमनन्तरूप || ११.३८ ||

Summary Translation:

You are the original God, the ancient Purusha. You are the ultimate sanctuary of this universe. You are the knower and the object of knowledge, and the supreme abode. By You, the entire universe is pervaded, O Lord of infinite forms!

Detailed Analysis:

Arjuna identifies the 'Theoretic Titles of the Primordial Being.' He addresses Krishna as 'ādi-devaḥ' (Original God) and 'puruṣhaḥ purāṇaḥ' (Ancient Person). This analysis focuses on the 'Theoretic Function' of the Lord as 'viśhvasya paraṁ nidhānam'—the ultimate treasure-house or sanctuary of the universe. This detailed analysis reveals that Arjuna defines 'Knowledge' through two aspects: 'vettāsi' (You are the knower) and 'vedyaṁ' (You are the thing to be known). This shloka provides a ' Framework for the Pervasiveness of God.' It teaches that 'tvayā tataṁ viśhvam'—the whole universe is stretched or pervaded by You, O 'Ananta-rūpa' (Infinite Form). Arjuna is telling Krishna that 'There is no ' Gap' in the universe where You are not present.' This is the ' Goal of the Knowing Seeker,' where 'The Pervasion' is 'Localized'.

The detailed analysis of 'Paraṁ Dhāma' (Supreme Abode) is the 'Theoretic Description of the Final Destination.' In our practical lives, we seek 'Home' in places. Arjuna sees that the ' Home' of all souls is Krishna. Krishna is defining 'The Self' as the 'Vetta' (Knower) who sees every heart. This shloka provides a 'Framework for the Totality of Being.' By saying 'You are the knowable,' Arjuna is merging 'Subject' and 'Object' into one ' Reality.' Arjuna is defining 'Ananta-rūpa' as the ' Diversity' that exists within 'Divine Unity.' This verse is the ' Proof that the Lord is the foundation of all science and spirituality.' By calling Him 'Adi-deva,' he covers the 'Temporal Origin' of the vision. This shloka is the 'Universal Manual for Seeing God in Everything,' forcing us to realize that 'The observer and the observed are both ripples in the ocean of God'. This is the ' Goal of the Unified Seeker,' where 'The Abode' is 'Localized'.
