॥ Chapter 12, Shloka 20 ॥

ये तु धर्म्यामृतमिदं यथोक्तं पर्युपासते |
श्रद्दधाना मत्परमा भक्तास्तेऽतीव मे प्रिया: || १२.२० ||

Summary Translation:

He who follows this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engages himself with faith, making Me his supreme goal, is very, very dear to Me.

Detailed Analysis:

Krishna identifies the 'Theoretic Conclusion of Bhakti Yoga.' He uses the beautiful term 'dharmyāmṛitam'—the Nectar of Dharma. This analysis focuses on the 'Theoretic Requirement' of those who 'paryupāsate' (worship) this nectar as it has been spoken ('yathoktaṁ'). This detailed analysis reveals that Krishna defines these followers as being 'atīva me priyāḥ' (EXCEEDINGLY dear to Me). This shloka provides a ' Framework for the Ultimate Blessing.' It teaches that ' Devotion' is not a ' Burden' but a ' Nectar' that leads to immortality. Krishna is telling Arjuna that 'The ' Climax' of our relationship is reached when you become ' Mat-paramā' (regarding Me as supreme) and follow these ' Instructions' with ' Faith' (śhraddadhānā).' This is the ' Goal of the Nectar-drinking Seeker,' where 'The Dearness' is 'Localized'.

The detailed analysis of 'Atīva' (Exceedingly/Extraordinarily) is the 'Theoretic Description of Divine Partiality.' In our practical lives, we want to be 'Special' to someone. Krishna is defining 'The Self' as the 'Lover of the Faithful' who reserves His ' Deepest Love' for those who take His words to heart. This shloka provides a 'Framework for the Final Promise.' By using the word 'Amṛitam' (immortality/nectar), Krishna is showing that ' Dharma' is not dry rules but a ' Juice' of life. Arjuna is defining 'Paryupāsate' as the ' Total Worship' of the message itself. This verse is the ' Proof that the Gita is a manual for becoming God's favorite.' By listing 'Śhraddadhānā' (full of faith), he covers the ' Fuel' for the entire journey. This shloka is the 'Universal Manual for Ultimate Union,' forcing us to realize that 'The end of the path is not a place, but a state of being loved by the Infinite'. This is the ' Goal of the Beloved Seeker,' where 'The Nectar' is 'Localized'.
