Summary Translation:
Or [if unsuccessful after long practice] he is born into a family of yogis who are great in wisdom. Certainly, such a birth is rare in this world.
Krishna describes the 'Theoretic Rarity of the Advanced Incarnation.' He says, 'athavā yoginām eva'—or (athavā) indeed (eva) of yogis (yoginām). 'kule bhavati dhīmatām'—in the family (kule) he is born (bhavati) of the wise (dhīmatām). 'etad dhi durlabhataraṁ'—this (etat) indeed (hi) is rarer (durlabhataram). 'loke janma yad īdṛiśham'—in this world (loke), birth (janma) such as this (yad īdṛiśham). This analysis focuses on the 'Theoretic Excellence of Spiritual Heritage.' It teaches that 'The Soul' bypasses 'Heavenly Pleasures' to get straight back to 'Truth.' Krishna is defining 'Durlabhataram' (Rarer) as the 'Golden Ticket' of reincarnation. This verse is the ' Validation of the Dedicated Life.' By using the word 'Athavā' (Or), He creates a hierarchy: the 'Good' get comfort, but the 'Great' get more Yoga. This shloka is the 'Universal Manual for the Aspiring Saint,' forcing us to realize that 'The greatest wealth we can give our children is our own spiritual realization'. This is the ' Goal of the Wise Seeker,' where 'The Birth' is 'Sacred'.
