॥ Chapter 14, Shloka 27 ॥

ब्रह्मणो हि प्रतिष्ठाहममृतस्याव्ययस्य च।
शाश्वतस्य च धर्मस्य सुखस्यैकान्तिकस्य च।। १४.२७ ।।

Summary Translation:

And I am the basis of the impersonal Brahman, which is immortal, imperishable and eternal and is the constitutional position of ultimate happiness.

Detailed Analysis:

In this final verse of Chapter 14, Lord Krishna makes a Declaration that is Foundation for all spiritual life. He proclaims: brahmano hi pratisthaham—I am the Basis (pratistha) of the impersonal Brahman. He further describes Himself as the Ground of amrtasya (immortality), avyayasya (the imperishable), sasvatasya dharmasya (eternal dharma), and aikantikasya sukhasya (the ultimate/absolute bliss). This analysis presents Krishna not just as a Being but as the Essence of all that is spiritual. The phrase brahmano hi pratisthaham is Revolutionary, as it establishes the Primacy of the Personal God over the impersonal light. In a religious sense, this shloka provides the Assurance that by Surrendering to Krishna, one Attains everything—Brahman, immortality, and eternal dharma. Krishna is Identifying Himself as the Source of the Bliss that every Gunatita seeks. This verse provides the Logic for the entire Gita. It explains that the Goal of Liberation is not a Nothingness but a Entry into the eternal nature of the Lord. The detailed interpretation emphasizes that Dharma is Theologicaly Sustained by Krishna. For a devotee, this is the Ultimate Comfort. This shloka thus serves as a Seal, closing the Discussion on the Gunas by Pointing back to the Center—the Lord Himself. It Synthesizes Jnana, Karma, and Bhakti into a single Truth.
